02NOV14

What a great Sunday!  We had good attendance at the El Cajon site of New Seasons Church. Helped lead in worship and Mike gave a good message on having an upward focus.  We had communion and prayed over a young couple who will be leaving and moving to Texas. We will miss them.
After church at 11:15 we headed over to the Spring Valley site for a combined service with the Spanish church.  The worship was amazing!  The Spanish Pastor gave the message using an interpreter.  All I can say is wow!  It was very convicting.  The service was followed by a potluck.
Now I'm just relaxing after a very busy weekend before the work week starts in again.  Oh joy! Thankful for my job, but ready to move on to the next phase called retirement ... seems so far away sometimes.

01NOV14

WOW!  Here we are in November already.
Not only is it the first day of National Blog Month, it's the first night of Hallmark's 12 Days of Christmas Movies.  Let's see how they do this year.  I have favorites from previous years, so I wonder if I'll add to that list this year.  First movie up is "One Starry Night."
A lot has happened this year and there's a lot to come.  Life just doesn't seem to slow down.
The year started out in high gear with continuing wedding plans for Ben & Danielle. Can't believe the last of our kids is now married.  We had a great, but too short, time enjoying having Andy & Mackenzie and Heidi & Zachary home for Ben & Danielle's wedding in July.  Janet flew out for the wedding and we got to see Erica & Jim. Touches of Iowa also came in the form of Ben's friends who made the trip for his wedding.
Janet stayed on after the wedding and we enjoyed some sister time together.  She also went to our church's Women's Retreat.
The company I worked for was bought out by another company earlier this year and just after I accepted a full time position with them I was offered a position at another company and made a job change. I'm still disappointed at times that I didn't find a job in a school, but apparently that's not where God wanted me.
We are excited to welcome a new grandchild - whom we now know is a girl - next March as Heidi & Jeff expand their family.  So excited to greet little Mackenzie Christine!
We were quite shocked and saddened to learn that Ben & Danielle were going to be moving to Oklahoma ... and even more so when we found out they are expecting too.  Their first baby and our third grandchild will arrive in June 2015. We were glad to be able to help them move. Now I guess we are truly empty nesters.  Bummer!
We are praying for God to bless Andy & Mackenzie with a baby also.  They so badly want to become parents.
Well, I think it's time to go to bed if I want to take advantage of an extra hour of sleep.  So goodnight world, I'll see you in the morning.
